STORY OF … choreography was a commission work for Sleeping Beauty Castle.
STORY OF … is a multidisciplinary performance, what merges dance and film in a site-specific location. It's a dreamy journey to an old castle where the stories of the past and the present mix and come to life. What is true and what is a myth? After waking up from this experience, it tries to understand what connects the characters and their stories. Are they trying to convey to us something?
Taneli and Eleni, the two collaboration artists say that “Working in the Castle felt timeless, and we were surprised by the results of the daily filming. The life span of a human was present throughout the whole process. We felt like life was only starting inside the mother’s womb, and at the same time that it was going towards the end. The colors of black and white can easily give a strong meaning, but one can still interpret them in different ways like one can interpret the artistic result.”
The result of this residency was a multidisciplinary site specific live performance presented in Sleeping Beauty Castle two times and a dance film, which was edited to its own work and presented in several dance film events.
